Oberoi – Father of Indian Hotel

He was amongst the first to recognise the potential of the tourism industry and its impact on economic growth with higher employment opportunities. He moved to Shimla becasue epidimic of Plague at his town, he got a job of front desk clerk, at The Cecil Hotel at a salary of Rs. 50 per month.

Being a quick learner, he shouldered many additional repsonbility along with his job responsbility. His mentor played a vital role in acquiring The Clarkes Hotel, by mortaging his wife’s jewellery and all his assests. Today, he the owner of 37 luxurious and first class international hotels in seven countries ‘The Oberio Group’, this is one of the strong example of commitment towards business goals.
