Student’s Surprise

I was invited to take orientation class to MSW, 1st semester a little year ago. I recall giving a copy of ‘The Departing Point’ copy to Mr.Azhar Malladkar, a student of the class. It’s difficult to be in touch with each student/people we come across but Mr Azhar was exceptional in this way. We kept in touch since then! I sent him two copy of She: Ekla Cholo Re, story of Kusum who is a transgender in search of identity. To my surprise he shared the copy with his friends and to one of his friend is studying Medicine in Russia. She: Ekla Cholo Re saw light in Russia. He has continued to surprise me by celebrating one year anniversary of the book with his friends and well-wishers.

“Life is full of surprises and they come in all forms”. I take this opportunity to thank him, his friends and well-wishers. I see that he would grow to become a great HR, valuable asset to any organisation and great human.

SHE
Blurb: Set in the backdrop of 1990 Calcutta, She is a story about finding one’s own identity in spite of all odds. The story spins around the life of Kusum, a brave heart whose identity is often untitled and blurred; it does not belong anywhere, definitely not under the ‘he’ or ‘she’ bracket, thanks to our social conditioning. Will she be successful in her mission? Find out in She, an utterly absorbing read that derives inspiration from Tagore’s “Ekla Cholo Re” song, which urges everyone to move on despite the fear of abandonment from others.

She More

She – Ekla Chalo Re – a subject matter often untouched is an intriguing story written by Santosh Avvannavar and Dr. Shayan Haq. The quest to find one’s own calling and destiny is a journey we all embark upon but how many of us actually find the answers? How the protagonist seeks it forms the crux of the story line. Highly motivational. Must Read!!

This was a great book for a short read . It is different from what I generally read but I have no regrets . The writing was simple but the story was powerful and is sure to leave a lasting impact. The ending was great and unexpected . I liked that it ended with a better hope for future. Apart from a few grammatical errors, it was pretty good for a quick read. I won this book in a goodreads giveaway.

Ki & Ka to break stereotype

Last year when I first heard about R Balki doing a film with a strange title Ki & Ka. I followed up until the trailer was out and was happy to see a movie is getting made to break a stereotype that often society believed to be one. I had written an article 2014 (I Want to Marry House Husband) and followed another article (click here), both the articles have received highest number of visitors and comments. Many comments have not been approved because there was inquiries to become House Husband.

These two articles inspired to write a book titled ‘Umbilical Cord’ (click here) that has one Cord (chapter title) on same theme. It’s good to see that gender stereotyping is addressed through large canvas. Dr Shayan Haq and I attempted to address this topic in an a book She: Ekla Cholo Re which has become one of the highly acclaimed one!

Let’s make the world a better place to live! #HappyHouseHusband day on April 01 🙂
