Suchita Khanna: My Best Friend

I read one of the story in this section “Amrita: Tell Your Story” which has motivated me to share mine too.

This was long time back when I was in 8th standard (2001). I was in Tezpur, Assam that time and had a very good friend with whom I spent all my time at school, we were classmates, bench-mates,had lunch together, shared everything, did gossiping, she was very dear to me and at that point of time I couldn’t imagine my life with her but as its said that all things come to an end so did this. My father got posted to some other city and so I had to bid farewell to my best friend with tears in eyes.. like other friends even we made promises of staying in touch through letters ( she did not have a land-line phone that time)we vowed that’ll we’ll continue to share everything with each other like we do now..
We kept our promises till 2-3 years and loved writing to each other, making cards and all but eventually we lost touch. In spite of sending many letters, I did not receive any reply from her side and I did not have any way to find out what happened to her.. I got upset and whenever I missed her I read her old letters, cards sent by her etc.

I was in engineering 1st year (2005) when I made my Orkut account, got back in touch with many old friends but did not find my best friend 😦 and so I forget about her for a while… then one day while chatting with a common friend I came to know about my long lost friend, took her number and called her, after so many years heard her voice.. it was a moment of a lifetime and I made myself a promise that I’ll never lose touch with her again now..since then we are in regular touch. I am glad to have found my friend again 🙂
